Fundraising
Below is a selection of some of our recent successes:
A very hectic day indeed! Very few children in the area that day went home with unpainted hands (and in some cases feet!). We had a variety of plates, pots of paint and some very busy mums coordinating the painting of over 50 plates. These were then sent off, glazed and returned ready for Christmas gifts. The Nursery raised £120 through this event.
Wreath making evening
A quite surreal evening with mulled wine, delicious snacks and Christmas Carols all during this wreath making workshop. We had an expert demonstrator on hand to guide a group of adults through the process of creating the most beautiful Christmas Wreath. It was thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable and into the bargain raised around £150.
Festive cookery evening
Another great opportunity to get a group together to learn how to make canapes in advance of those Christmas and New Year gatherings. Our "in house caterer", Lisa Elliott ,(ie one of our committee members who happens to be an excellent caterer), spent over 2 hours demonstrating several recipes including a variety of canapes, baked alaska, stained glass window cookies and so on to a group of 20 enthusiasts! A lovely evening where everyone felt they had learned a new skill. This earned around £220 for the nursery.
Cake Sales
We are very grateful to all of the mums who turn up with cakes to sell on the cake stall at the Frant Jumble Sale each term. We raise between £80 and £120 each time. Without the donations and pairs of hands to serve up tea and cakes on the day, these would be missed opportunities.
Christmas Cards and Gift Wrap
Every year we sell lovely Christmas gift wrap at very reduced prices - catalogues are circulated weeks in advance with samples of each design. In addition, the children at the Nursery design their own Christmas card which is sent off to be professionally printed. Each card has the child's name printed on the back which makes them a very popular purchase to send off to friends and relatives.
Fundays
Fundays are days when all of the Nursery children (and any other friends)
get together in the holidays to play and have a picnic. The venue differs
each time ......... depending on which kind mum donates their garden!
At £5 per family for a 3 hour play, they are a very popular event
for those who have a free day and children who require entertainment!!
Most recently, we had a fantastic Easter Funday held on a farm. Despite
a very windy, cold and grey day, we had a superb turnout and raised £170
for the Nursery. Watch this space for an announcement about the Summer
Funday Fridays.
Spring Plant Sale
A wonderful event involving not only the parents/carers but also the children.
Each child at the Nursery was provided with a watering can and 3 packets
of seeds to grow over a couple of months. These were then brought back
to the nursery in their "grown form" and sold to the locals.
A fantastic turn out with hundreds of plants sold raising around £200
for the Nursery.
